The Secret Garden in Kent is a very special place for a wedding – just minutes from the Kent countryside where Sarah & Adam chose to stay and have their close family & friends back for a mini (extra) shindig at the end of their day.
Firstly though, it all started in Sarah & Adam's home in Bearsted amongst their everyday lives where Adam and the groomsmen got ready together over a few swift drinks. I spent half an hour shooting before jumping in the car to Elvey Farm where Sarah and her bridal party were getting ready. Both mums and two bridesmaids were busy organising Sarah whilst she had her hair and makeup done.
Soon after a bright yellow (the colour of the day) vw camper named Custard turned up and whisked Sarah and her dad away to The Secret Garden. I arrived shortly before to Adam and guests eagerly awaiting Sarah's arrival amongst lush green gardens. The ceremony was to take place in a centrally positioned pagoda draped with freshly picked hops. Guests were seated surrounding the pagoda which enabled a grand entrance for Sarah as she walked up the aisle with her two page boys, bridesmaid and of course dad.
The ceremony was full of emotion and laughter and started the day as it was meant to go on. The reception included a picnic meal served in hampers and each table had a server chosen with matching aprons!
The Secret Garden was a perfect place for Sarah and Adam to spend some time together alone whilst I captured their portraits with plenty of hidden spots including a glasshouse and potting shed! It's moments like this that make me feel very privileged to do what I do – a moment that no one else witnessed, but a moment that I got to capture for them both to relive.
